About

Who is asking for your email, and why.

UNcommonVCU is a class project. Specifically: a group of students in a digital marketing course at VCU, building a real campaign for a real team during the fall 2026 semester.

Why this team

Two seasons ago VCU Women’s Basketball won 26 games. Last season it won eight, lost its coach in February, and finished without another win. In between, more than six thousand people packed the Siegel Center for a single women’s basketball game — twice — and then the building went quiet again.

That gap is the whole story. The support is real. The habit is not. A new coach with a winning record in every season she has ever coached just arrived. Year one will not be tidy. That is precisely why it is worth watching from the start.

What we are trying to do

Turn a once-a-year crowd into a season-long one. That’s it. The Board exists because a reason to come back every week is worth more than a slogan. The player pages exist because you cannot care about a team you can’t name.

What happens in December

The course ends in December, and so does our work on this site. When it does, every account and every email address is permanently deleted — nothing is handed to VCU, to next year’s class, or to anyone. The domain passes to next year’s class empty.

Not affiliated

We are not VCU, VCU Athletics, or a booster organisation. We don’t sell anything. We don’t take money. We link to the official box office for tickets and to vcuathletics.com for the record.
