Fan Guide
A first-timer’s guide to VCU women’s basketball at the Siegel Center: tickets, parking, clear bags, how a game works and the home schedule.
Never been to a VCU women’s basketball game? This VCU women’s basketball fan guide covers your first one at the Siegel Center: tickets, parking, getting there, how a game works and every home game through December 13.
Tickets
- VCU students: free with your student ID. There’s nothing to claim ahead of time for women’s games. Show your ID at the gate.
- Everyone else: adult tickets are $10. Youth, seniors (62+) and VCU faculty and staff pay $8, and courtside seats are $20. Each ticket adds a small fee.
- Where to buy: VCU’s official box office. We don’t sell tickets.
- On your phone: tickets are mobile. Add them to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet before you go, and don’t print them.
Getting there
The Siegel Center is at 1200 W Broad St, at Broad and Harrison.
- Parking: the two main decks are the West Broad Street Deck (1111 W Broad St) and the Bowe Street Deck (609 Bowe St). Drive-up payment is credit card only. There’s also some metered street parking. Not every deck opens for every event, so call VCU Parking at 804-828-PARK if you’re unsure.
- When to arrive: 30 to 45 minutes before tip gives you time to get in and find a seat. Picking up tickets? Will call opens an hour before tip at the VCU ticket office near the main entrance.
- Bags: the Siegel Center is a clear-bag venue. Clear bags up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches are fine. Backpacks, coolers, duffel bags and outside food and drink aren’t allowed.
- No re-entry: once you leave the arena, you can’t come back in.
Want dinner first or a slice after? The game day guide has spots within walking distance.
Where to sit
- Students: the student entrance is on the east end of the arena. Head for the student section.
- Everyone else: regular tickets are general admission, so pick any open seat.
- Coming alone? Do it. The student section is an easy place to meet people and get loud.
How a women’s college game works
- Four 10-minute quarters, with halftime after the second. The clock stops on whistles, so a game takes about two hours.
- A 30-second shot clock. On each possession, a team has 30 seconds to get off a shot that hits the rim.
- Scoring: 2 points inside the arc, 3 from behind it, and 1 for each free throw.
- Fouls: a player with five fouls is out of the game. Team fouls reset every quarter. Once a team has five in a quarter, the other team shoots two free throws on most fouls after that.
- Tied after four quarters? They play five-minute overtimes until someone wins.
What to watch for
- Watch the pass before the shot. Good offense makes the defense move. Count the passes on a possession.
- Watch feet on defense. A defender who stays between her player and the basket is doing her job, even when the box score doesn’t show it.
- Check the assists at halftime. It’s a quick read on how well the ball is moving.
- Listen after a big stop. That’s when the building gets loud.
Who to watch
Start with the roster. This season’s Rams come from Virginia Beach, Kerala, Belgrade, Calafell and Ourense, among other places. Meet the players, and open every profile while signed in for 1,500 points.
It’s Coach Chelsea Banbury’s first season at VCU, and she has never had a losing season as a head coach. She wants effort, discipline, “we over me,” and a relentless man-to-man defense. More on the coach.

The record crowd
The program record is 6,093 fans, set at the SupportHER game in November 2024. This season’s SupportHER date hasn’t been announced yet. We want crowds like that for more than one night a year.
Check in on The Board
The Board is our free fan leaderboard. Take one free shot to join and get 1,000 points. At a home game, open The Board and tap Check In for 3,000 points. Check-in opens 30 minutes before tip and stays open 3 hours after. When a friend joins through your link, you get 2,000 points.
No purchase, no prizes, and no points depend on the score. How it works lists every way to earn.
