Terms
The rules for this site and The Board, in plain language.
Our terms and rules, short version: it’s free, it’s a fan leaderboard, it ends in December, and we delete everything when it does.
The site
- UNcommonVCU is a student project for a marketing course at Virginia Commonwealth University, fall 2026. VCU and VCU Athletics don’t run, endorse or sponsor it.
- We write the player and coach profiles ourselves from public sources. VCU Athletics lets us use its photos (credited to them), roster headshots and player survey answers, but that isn’t an endorsement. Spot an error? Email murraygj@vcu.edu and we’ll fix it.
- Ticket links go to VCU’s official box office. We don’t sell anything or handle payments.
- Our Instagram and TikTok accounts follow the same rules as this site. From October 26 to November 30 we run a few small ads on Google and Instagram, each labeled as an unofficial student fan site.
The Board
- Free. No entry fee, no purchase, no money at any stage.
- No prizes. Points have no cash value, and you can’t transfer, exchange or redeem them for anything.
- You earn points only through your own activity: the signup shot, home-game check-ins, referrals, shares and exploring the site. None depend on a game’s result, a score or a stat, and none are random.
- VCU student-athletes, coaches and athletics department staff can’t take part.
- You must be 13 or older to make an account.
- One account per person. You have to be at the arena to check in. We may correct errors and remove accounts or points that abuse the system.
- Every way to earn: How it works.
Your account
- We collect your email address and a username. The public leaderboard shows your username and points, never your email.
- Check-in uses your phone’s location once, when you tap Check in, to confirm you’re at the arena. We keep the result and never the location.
- We email you about home games and your account. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and your account page has a switch.
- You can delete your account anytime from your account page.
December
The project ends with the semester. The site and The Board wind down on Monday, December 14, 2026. Before the month is out, we permanently delete the whole database: every account, email address, check-in and point. Nothing goes to anyone. To keep up with the team after that, follow VCU Athletics. Full details are in the privacy policy.
