The Coach
Chelsea Banbury
Fourteenth head coach in program history. Named March 31, 2026. Seven seasons as a head coach, seven winning records.
Two things travel from her High Point years. The first is a floor: 140–79 overall, four Big South regular-season titles, three tournament titles, three NCAA appearances, 27–6 in her final season, two-time conference Coach of the Year. She has never had a losing season — which is exactly what a program coming off 8–23 needs to hear first.
The second is a look. Her last High Point team led its league in assists, field-goal percentage, blocks, scoring defense and scoring margin, and ranked 34th in the country in field-goal percentage defense. Translated: this team will share the ball, and it will defend. You can check that with your own eyes in November — and The Number market on The Board literally asks you to.
Before High Point: eleven seasons at Florida Gulf Coast under Karl Smesko, the last five as associate head coach.
