Privacy
What we collect, what it is used for, and what happens to it.
What we collect
- Your email address and a username you choose, when you claim points.
- Your picks and points, so the game works.
- A cookie that remembers your browser so you don’t need a password.
- Standard site analytics (pages viewed, rough location, device). No advertising pixels, no remarketing.
What it is used for
- Running The Board: your account, your picks, the public leaderboard (username and points only — never your email).
- Two kinds of email: a note before picks lock, and a note after each game. Plus the one-time sign-in link you request yourself.
- Reporting on the project in aggregate — how many people signed up, how many played twice. Never individually.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or share your address with anyone — including VCU.
- Show your email to other players.
- Email you about anything other than the game.
How to be removed
Every email has an unsubscribe link. Your account page has a switch. And you can have your account deleted entirely — it, your picks and your points are erased.
December
This is a semester project. When the course ends in December 2026, the entire database is permanently deleted: every account, every email address, every pick, every point. Nothing is transferred to VCU, to next year’s class, or to anyone else. The site itself may remain online with no accounts behind it.
