FAQ
FAQ
The short answers to the questions we get asked most.
Is this VCU?
No. UNcommonVCU is a student-run fan site built by a marketing class at VCU. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Virginia Commonwealth University or VCU Athletics. For tickets, stats and the official schedule we link straight to them.
Is the game gambling?
No. Nothing costs money, nothing pays money, and points have no cash value. It is a free prediction contest on team outcomes — the same category as ESPN’s bracket challenge. There are no individual player markets. VCU athletes and staff can’t play.
What do you do with my email?
Two things: we send one note when picks are about to lock and one after each game. That’s the whole list. It is never sold or shared, and you can switch it off from your account page in one click.
What happens in December?
This is a semester project and it ends in December. When it does, the whole database — every account, email, pick and point — is permanently deleted. Nothing is passed on to anyone. Clean slate.
Why don’t you have passwords?
Because nobody wants another one. Your browser remembers you. On a new device, enter your email and we send a one-time link that signs you in.
Do student tickets really cost nothing?
Yes. VCU students get in free with their ID. Everyone else can usually find a seat from around $12. The ticket link on every game goes straight to the box office.
What if I don’t know anything about basketball?
Then you are exactly who this is for. Three calls take twenty seconds and each one tells you what to watch for. Start with the players page.
Can I change my picks?
Until tip-off, as many times as you like. After that they lock.
