FAQ

FAQ

Quick answers about VCU student tickets, parking, game times, the new coach, points and your data.

Is this VCU?

No. UNcommonVCU is a student-run fan site built by a marketing class at VCU. VCU and VCU Athletics don’t run, endorse or sponsor it. For tickets, stats and the official schedule, we link straight to them.

Are VCU basketball games free for students?

Yes. VCU students get in free with their student ID. For women’s games there’s nothing to claim ahead of time. Just show your ID at the gate, and use the student entrance on the east end of the arena.

How much are tickets for kids and adults?

Adult tickets are $10. Youth, seniors (62+) and VCU faculty and staff pay $8, and courtside seats are $20, plus a small fee per ticket. Every ticket link on this site goes to VCU’s official box office. We don’t sell tickets.

Where do I park, and what bags can I bring?

The two main decks are the West Broad Street Deck (1111 W Broad St) and the Bowe Street Deck (609 Bowe St), and drive-up payment is credit card only. The Siegel Center is clear-bag only, up to 12 x 12 x 6 inches, with no backpacks. The Fan Guide has the rest.

How long is a game, and when do they start?

About two hours from tip to the final buzzer. Most home games tip at 6 p.m. on weeknights, and the Sunday games against Charlotte (Dec 6) and New Hampshire (Dec 13) tip at 2 p.m. Tip times can change, so check the schedule before you go.

Can I go by myself?

Do it. The student section is an easy place to meet people and get loud. Or bring friends: on The Board, you earn points when a friend joins through your link, and more when you both check in at the same game.

Who is VCU’s new women’s basketball coach?

Chelsea Banbury, hired March 31, 2026, as VCU’s 14th head coach. At High Point she went 140–79 and won four Big South regular-season titles, and she has never had a losing season as a head coach. More on the coach.

How do I watch the road games?

Each road game’s stream, radio and live stats are listed on VCU’s official schedule as they’re announced. Watch & listen keeps every road and neutral-site game in one place.

What if I don’t know anything about basketball?

Then this site is for you. Meet the players, come to a home game and check in. The Fan Guide covers the rest.

What is The Board?

A free fan leaderboard for VCU women’s basketball. Take one free shot to join, then earn points for checking in at home games, bringing friends and meeting the team. How it works lists every way to earn.

Is this gambling?

No. Nothing costs money, nothing pays out, and no points depend on how a game turns out. You earn points for things you do, and they count on the leaderboard and nowhere else. VCU athletes and staff can’t take part.

How does check-in work? Do you track me?

At a home game, tap Check in on The Board. Your phone shares its location once, we check that you’re at the Siegel Center, and we keep only the yes or no. We never store where you are. Rather not share your location? Skip check-in and earn points the other ways.

Check-in says location is blocked. What do I do?

Your phone or browser is blocking location for this site. Tap “How to turn it on” under the Check in button for steps for your phone. On an iPhone, turn on Precise Location too.

Why am I seeing ads for this site?

From October 26 to November 30 we run a few small ads on Google and Instagram as part of the class project. Each one is labeled as an unofficial student fan site. We don’t sell anything.

Are you on social media?

Yes, on Instagram and TikTok. We don’t have a Facebook page.

What do you do with my email?

We send a note on home game days, plus the sign-in codes you ask for. We never sell or share your address. Switch emails off from your account page anytime.

How do I delete my account?

From your account page, anytime. Tap “Email me a code to delete it” and enter the six-digit code we send. We erase your account, points, check-ins and the emails we sent you.

Why is there no password?

Your browser remembers you. On a new phone or browser, enter your email and we send a six-digit code. New here? The same email shows you how to join.

What happens in December?

This is a semester project. The site and The Board wind down on Monday, December 14, 2026, and before the month is out we permanently delete the whole database: every account, email, check-in and point. Nothing goes to VCU or anyone else.
